The bastions and walls of a hill fort play hide and seek as the road snakes around a narrow gorge at the edge of the Aravallis. Soon you see the charming zig-zagging lines of blue-lime-washed houses... You spot a few palace spires and many Baolis (stepwells) brimming with water...a few neat rows of bustling bazaars, full of a motley collection of people and modes of transport... The fragrances of freshly cooked kachoris every now and then, and you can see the towering ramparts of the 12th century hill fort above the town... Welcome to Bundi!

With its beguiling architecture, hill forts and palaces, exquisite bails, serene lakes, and a symphony of colors that dance through its streets, and above all…rock-paintings dating back to ten thousand years ago, Bundi is a captivating gem waiting to be discovered.

As you step foot in this time-honored city, you are transported to an era where kings ruled with opulence and artisans brought stone to life. Where its Baolis echo the whispers of enchanting historic tales. But Bundi is not merely a city of stone and water; it is a canvas upon which nature paints its most vibrant hues too, being situated on one of the most green parts of the Aravallis.

Day 1: Arrive in Kota, drive to Bundi

- Take a train and reach Kota station by 11 am.

- Our vehicle pick you up from Kota station. Drive to Kota (45 km/1hr), check in the hotel.
Lunch and orientation @ the Hotel.
- Townsfolk of Bundi call it “The town of Baolis” [stepwells], as Bundi boasts almost 50+ stepwells, from as far back as the 14th century. So we kickstart the 4 days of your action-packed tour with a visit to the town’s finest architectural gems like the Baolis of Raniji Ki Baori, Dabhai Kund and more.

Day 2: Explore Bundi

- Breakfast @ hotel in Bundi.
- Explore Rajput history of Bundi with an early morning walk- around Bundi’s iconic Garh Palace and Taragarh Fort, the magnificent hill fort-palace taking your breath away with its gargantuan size, towering almost 10 storeys into the sky above the hill and giving excellent aerial views of the town!
- Experience the beauty of vibrant wall-murals, frescoes and miniature paintings inside the fort’s Chitrashala, the style of art now known world-over as the Bundi School of Art.
- Walk the main bazaars, tasting local favourites of Kachodis topped with Bhaang Ki Thandai, and shopping local handicrafts like Kota Doria fabrics, Laakh (Lac) bangles and Swords!
- On way back visit the Sukh Mahal on the banks of Jait Sagar lake
- Our day ends with sunset views at one of the town’s famous lakes, followed by a dinner by the lake side.

Day 3: Explore Bundi

- Today is one of the biggest highlights of our trip, our time travel back almost 10,000-12,000 years, as we leave town and drive a short and scenic way to a day-long outdoor exploration of pre-historic, open-air, rock paintings, inside caves, rock shelters and giant rock faces.
- Post lunch, visit the Bijoliya temple complex.
- It’s our final evening at Bundi and we relish a specially curated session of local folk music followed with a specially prepared Rajasthani traditional dinner.

Day 4: Garadia and back to Kota

- Wake up early as we take you to another walk-about to the bazars of Bundi as they stir up to life for a quick breakfast walk; and the fragrances of a typical Rajasthani town draw you in, as shops churn out plate-after-plate of breakfast delicacies, served with hot cups of chai.
- Come back to hotel, check-out and then we are headed out of town. After a drive of an hour we reach Garadia Mahadev, a Shiva temple, deep inside the Mukundra Forest Reserve, where you see the transition from the semi-arid Aravallis to the lush Vindhyan-range forests. But the crowning glory is up ahead as you are welcomed by an ‘Awe-inspiring, highly-Instagrammable’ as we see the massive Chambal River cutting the rocks, making the most breathtakingly-beautiful U-turn you have ever set your eyes on!!
- At this beautiful natural wonder we stay for a while and then say Good bye.
- Drive to Kota railway station to catch your evening/night trains.

Bundi, located in the Hadoti region of Rajasthan, India, is situated on the eastern edge of the Aravalli Range, with the Chambal River flowing nearby. The town is characterized by rocky terrain, hills, and ravines, creating a picturesque landscape. Bundi is known for its stepwells (baoris) which historically provided water for the town.
* Summer (March to June): Summers in Bundi are hot with temperatures often exceeding 40°C (104°F). The weather is dry and scorching, making it less favorable for outdoor activities.
* Monsoon (July to September): Bundi receives moderate rainfall during the monsoon season, transforming the region into a lush green landscape. The rains rejuvenate the surroundings and make this period relatively cooler.
* Winter (October to February): Winters are mild and pleasant, with temperatures ranging from 10°C to 25°C (50°F to 77°F).

Packing List

- Do carry adequate/suitable rain gear like raincoats/umbrellas, easy-to-dry clothes and good quality water-resistant floaters/shoes/slip-ons that have good grip on soles.
- Also carry appropriate rain protection for your electronic devices - mobiles, camera etc.
- Carry your own skin-suitable anti-mosquito repellants / anti-bugs sprays for use there.
