A few decades ago, when travel and holidays were a once-a-year summer vacation activity, when trains were the mode of commute for a large part of India’s population - a rectangular “Brown Ticket” of Indian Railways used to be our escape from the mundane! Whether it meant another customary visit to dadi-nani house or a totally new destination - the joy of holding a Brown Ticket was unparalleled. And well, this was not the internet era of information-at-my-fingertips. The photographs of a dream destination were seen only on the glossy prints of magazines, often cut and pasted into scrapbooks, and the “top 10 things to do” blogs were non-existent. The Brown Ticket was our pass to an unimagined experience; the memories were saved in non-digital photo albums, to go over time and again, to showcase to family and friends, and to wait for another Brown Ticket to another dream. It is this nostalgic idea of old travel that we at the Brown Ticket aim to bring to our experiences.
